About Me

In a career spanning multiple geographies, I have donned a variety of hats — as a researcher, journalist, writer, and consultant. As a strategy consultant, I have advised clients in both the public and private sectors, including ministers, ambassadors, and C-Suite leaders. As a researcher and advisor, I have worked for and consulted with corporate organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies. As a writer, I have published both long-form academic writing as well as shorter form journalistic writing.

My Story

Like many young Indians, I entered engineering school at the age of 17, only to find that I also have several other compelling interests. I took to blogging in the second year of my undergraduate studies, writing on a wide range of issues, from politics to economics, and even tennis and cricket. Soon, that disparate range narrowed down to focused commentary and analysis of international politics and public affairs.

About a year into blogging on my personal site, I was tapped by the editors of leading online journals who began to republish my work. By the final year of engineering school, I had begun writing regular columns on foreign policy and international affairs for The Diplomat. I was also invited to host a personal blog on HuffPost India, where I wrote on matters of Indian and international governance.

All of this led to my transition to public affairs and policy studies. Shortly after undergrad, I went to Columbia University to study international affairs, where I won scholarships to teach economic policy analysis, and also edited the online volume of the Columbia Journal of International Affairs. Since then, I have worked across South Asia, the Middle East, and America, advising governments, corporate entities, and public audiences on global affairs.

So, what drives me?

Much of my work is motivated by three key objectives:

1) to understand our world better — decode the biggest challenges and opportunities of our time, and what can make our world more peaceful and prosperous;

2) to inform people, organizations, and businesses on public affairs and thereby enable them to make smarter decisions;

3) to communicate ideas for a better planet, to people both rich and poor, global and local;

Leading Achievements

1 / Helped Win an Election at the United Nations

I helped strategize India's election campaign for a seat in the International Court of Justice in 2017. Through computerized data analysis of past voting records and discussions with key member states, I generated insights to guide India's electoral strategy. India eventually won the election and my work was publicly cited by the Indian ambassador as a key factor behind the success.

2 / Concluded a Multilateral Declaration at the G20

By analyzing member states' policy positions, I co-drafted a multilateral declaration on cybersecurity during the 2020 G20 Summit in Riyadh. The process involved multiple rounds of negotiations with stakeholders in the public and private sectors to identify key areas of convergence. The declaration eventually attracted 200+ signatories across governments and multinational corporations.

3 / Constructed a Risk Matrix for Government Clients

Through a weighted combination of qualitative and quantitative factors, I built a matrix of geopolitical and macroeconomic risk factors for public sector clients. The framework attracted significant interest from multiple high-profile entities and was designed to support the scientific evolution of a crisis strategy. Although tailored to a specific context, the principles of the framework may be adapted.
